Multi-layered and complex as well as excellently performed with just the right dose of humour and pathos. 8 Ways my Mother was Conceived is a coming of age story, a deconstruction and a celebration of the art of storytelling and mythology, a beautiful testimonial to a family's experience, and a grand opportunity to catch a glimpse of the rise of a gifted performer. Although I was only privileged to witness the last performance and this net buzz will come too late for this Fringe, this show should be remounted elsewhere and when it is audiences should flock to see Di Cesare switch effortlessly between a host of colourful characters and courageously share with us a story that is at times familiar, at times exotic, always heartfelt and engaging, and ultimately deeply moving.
